Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 7, 2026

InkMate is a local-first OCR app that helps users capture or choose images and extract readable text on their device. This Privacy Policy explains what InkMate does and does not collect.

Information You Provide

InkMate lets you take a photo with the camera or choose an image from your photo library. The images and extracted text are used to provide the app’s text recognition features.

Local-First Processing

InkMate uses Apple system frameworks for text recognition. Images, extracted text, and recent scans are stored locally on your device. InkMate does not require an account and does not upload your scans or extracted text to an InkMate server.

Camera and Photo Access

Camera access is requested only when you choose to take a photo. Photo library access is requested only when you choose to import a photo. You can manage these permissions at any time in iOS Settings.

Recent Scans

InkMate may save recent scans locally on your device so you can return to previous results. Deleting the app or clearing app data may remove locally stored scans.

Advertising and Third-Party Services

InkMate uses Google AdMob and Google’s User Messaging Platform to show ads and manage consent or privacy options where required. These Google services may collect or process data such as device identifiers, advertising data, approximate location derived from IP address, product interactions, diagnostics, crash logs, and performance data.

This data may be used by Google for advertising, fraud prevention, analytics, diagnostics, service performance, and related purposes. Ad availability and personalization may depend on your region, device settings, consent choices, and Google’s policies.

Where privacy options are required, InkMate provides access to those options inside the app.

Data We Do Not Collect Directly

InkMate does not require sign-in, does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, payment information, health information, or precise location, and does not operate its own backend server for user scans.

Data Sharing

InkMate does not sell your scans or extracted text. Third-party advertising services may process data as described above and according to their own privacy policies.

Children’s Privacy

InkMate is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Security

InkMate is designed to keep scans and extracted text on your device. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but InkMate minimizes data sharing by processing OCR locally and avoiding an InkMate account or backend for scans.

Your Choices

You can manage camera and photo permissions in iOS Settings. You can also manage applicable ad consent or privacy options from within InkMate where available.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above.
